The 2012 Ford Focus - the Next Generation Focus

Following the One Ford plan, the next generation.  Focus is being designed to again raise the standard … and lead its segment.  And “lead” it will.  There is an energy to this all-new design that can’t be denied. Every line of its kinetic design evokes motion and agility.  Be assured, the next generation Focus will not only look exciting, it is exciting. This all-new car is being engineered to deliver the kind of driving dynamics, power and responsible fuel economy that appeals to the true driving spirit. And, from its well-crafted cabin, drivers will both enjoy the road as well as all of the cutting-edge technologies that customers have come to expect from Ford.  The next generation Focus will launch in the spring of 2011 as a 2012 model and will be introduced in a number of its global markets simultaneously. The new Focus will compete globally, but in the U.S. the competitors will be other C-segment cars. Some of the competition in this segment includes: Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Civic, Kia Forte, Toyota Corolla, and the VW Jetta. 

Key messages with the 2011 Ford focus are that Focus packs a high level of safety with six standard airbags, AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).  The new and exciting MyKey® is an industry-exclusive feature designed to help promote safe driving habits.  For instance a driver in unable to turn on the radio without securing their safety belt first.  Many Portland Area parents see how this technology in the Ford Focus could save lives and make Oregon roads a safer place.  SYNC® voice-activated communications and entertainment system includes Traffic, Directions and Information functionality.  The Ford Focus SES offers sporty appeal with a sport front fascia with fog lamps, “dark” chrome, sport-tuned suspension and 17" premium painted aluminum wheels. 

Things that are new on the 2011 Focus are that the Model Lineup no longer includes the SE and SES Coupe models.  In the performance/Handling areas the Ford Focus has a 1 mpg increase in EPA-estimated city fuel economy, 4-speed automatic transmission standard on SELand  a 5-speed manual transmission no longer available on SEL. 

With Safety and Security there are No new features for 2011.  But the comfort and Convenience features have been intensified to include SYNC® upgrades including Destination download through Mapquest® and
Google maps.  Movie times and theater locations, stock information and horoscopes can also be reached thru the exclusive Ford technology of Sync.  A Moonroof no longer available on 2011 Ford Focus SE.  SIRIUS® Satellite Radio no longer available on 2011 Ford Focus S model.  The SYNC and Sound Package no longer available on Ford Focus SE however the SYNC Equipment Group available on SE.  Ford Motor Company did not expand on any of the Quality, Reliability or Durability areas of its vehicle. 

However the Design and Styling have been upgraded in the new Ford Focus available at Gresham Ford, just minutes from Portland.  A great Oregon Ford Dealer with cheap car prices.  Ambient interior lighting no longer available on the Ford Focus SE. 

 The 2011 Ford Focus's performance and handling includes brakes more specifically front disc/rear drum.  The Duratec® engine available in either a 2.0L I-4 or a 2.0L I-4 (PZEV) (standard in California Emissions States) are available at Gresham Ford located minutes from Portland Oregon or Vancouver Washington.  The Powertrain with front-wheel drive and a mini Spare tire are also included in the standard equipment of the New Focus S model.  The Steering includes power rack-and-pinion technology that is complimented by the independent Suspension and European-inspired Front MacPherson strut with stabilizer bar and Rear Control Blade.  Like icing on the cake the Tires — P195/60TR15 coupled with the Transmission — 5-speed manual create a fun fast driving experience. 

Safety& Security are major components when living in the Portland area.  AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction Control will come in handy when climbing Mt Hood or traveling over a bridge to Vancouver in our famous NW weather.  the new Ford Focus also has Airbags both Dual-stage frontal and Front-seat side.  The Side curtain air bags deploy from the 1st- and 2nd-rows.  New  Battery Saver technology also helps to ensure that you never need a jump even if you left your lights on.  The Belt-Minder® and Child safety locks for the rear doors ease your worries about kids alone in the back seat.  Emergency trunk release glows-in-the-dark to ensure that no one gets trapped.  The Ford exclusive LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) System accompanied by the Personal Safety SystemTM and Safety belts at all 3-point for all passengers ensure that you are safe in the New Ford Focus.  SecuriLock® passive anti-theft system will continue to keep your car safe when you are away.  The SOS Post Crash Alert SystemTM and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) were also enhanced by Ford Motor Company.  The Ford Focus S model does exclude a spare tire.  Comfort  and Convenience features include a Accessory delay and has Audio — single-CD/MP3 capability with auxiliary audio input jack, speed compensated volume and 4 speakers.  Climate control includes manual air conditioning with a Console, floor with armrest, small storage bin and metallic clock top plate.  The Focus also has Cup holders  2 in the front and 1 in the rear.  The rear window  has a Defroster to help on those chilly Oregon mornings.   Dome lamps both  front and rear with power Door locks  and Floor mats that are carpeted, color-keyed front and rear make the Focus look very finished and refined.  You will also find the Glove box to be roomy.  The Focus horn has a distinctive single-note.  An Illuminated entry  as well as lighted Instrumentation for both the tachometer and trip and odometer help with those night time driving experiences.  Keyless Entry with integrated keyhead transmitters with panic button included continues to make you feel safe even in the seedier portions of Portland or Vancouver.  The new Ford Focus also boasts a Map pocket located in the passenger front seatback.  The Message Center shares any trouble indicators that might arise.  The rear view Mirror has an automatic interior day and night sensors to help avoid the blinding light from the lifted truck behind you at any one of Portland's fine stop lights.
