2015 Ford Escape Review & New Technology

2015 Ford Escape at Gresham Ford
The Ford Escape is a smart utility vehicle that is incredibly adaptive and perfect for the active NW family without being a land yacht.  The balance of technology, design and intelligent purposeful technology that provides intuitive controls makes all the difference.   The intelligent 4WD design paired with a 3500 lb towing capacity makes the 2015 Ford Escape incredibly versatile as well.  But the Escape has always had these qualities, which may be why this model has been so popular especially in Oregon.

The 2015 Ford Escape has five Class Exclusive features that continue to set the Escape apart from its competitor.  The foot activated lift gate is optional equipment but we strongly suggest it.  This is one of those technologies that you can't remember how you got anything done before if.  The hands free foot activated lift gate comes in handy when holding groceries, dogs, babies.  The push button start system sensing the key in your purse or pocket when you are close to the vehicle and unlocks doors.  If you have teenagers you will definitely appreciated the class-exclusive My Key features as well.

The 2015 Ford Escape also offers dual USB ports so that you can connect all your USB devices.  Now you can charge your phone and your tablet at the same time.
Easy Fuel Capless Filler

This compact SUV also is the only to offer the capless Easy Fuel filler. First this technology is helpful because you will never forget the cap at the gas station again and save time when filling up.  Next it is also better for the environment because it reduces the opportunity for fuel vapors to escape.  Ford made sure that only an object the size of a fuel filler pump can depress both tabs and allow the spring loaded metal flap to open.  This technology has been available since late 2010 and many have seen it deter those who may attempt to siphon fuel from unsuspecting motorists.  So a third advantage is the security advantage.

The last class exclusive feature for the 2015 Ford Escape is the available SecuriCode invisible keypad.  This is a great option when you visit Farmers Markets or visit the Dog Park because you don't need your keys to get back into the vehicle, only your code.  This is one of our favorite options.

If you had looked at the 2014 Ford Escape there are a few changes for the 2015 model year.  One update is that the 2.5L IVCT I-4 engine is now also available on the front wheel drive SE Ford Escape, adding yet another engine choice to the line up.  If you choose a Titanium trim level you will also get a front passenger 10-way power seat standard, just like the drivers seat!  The in floor storage was deleted for the 2015 year.

Say Thank You to Your Vehicle this Spring

Spring Car Care Tips from the Gresham Ford Service Center

Spring is a great time to “thank” your vehicles for their great winter performance with a maintenance check-up and Gresham Ford can help. There are plenty of things you can do to extend the life of your vehicle and get the best value possible. A quick inexpensive spring checkup can help uncover winter deterioration before it snowballs to a real problem. You should have your engine analyzed by a competent technician and determine the if any of your vehicles components are in need of servicing.  The items that Gresham Ford recommends are reviewed are below.
  1. Batteries, Plugs & Wires: All of these components give the spark to your your vehicle and they work extra hard when it’s cold. Winter stress can compromise their performance up to 60 percent. Test and replace old or weak batteries, plugs and wires, especially those more than three years old. It will certainly be cheaper than a tow and replacement down the road.

  2. Tire Pressure: Cold weather can reduce tire pressure, so make sure all tires, including the spare, are properly inflated and balanced. You can check the inside of your car door to find out what the proper air pressure should be.  Gresham Ford also offers Nitrogen fill that provides many advantages over traditional air.

  3. Belts and hoses: Inspect and replace worn or cracked belts, as well as hoses that are blistered, brittle or too soft. Belts and hoses older than five years, even if they look intact, might need to be replaced before they fail creating a safety risk.
  4. Brakes: After a season of snow and ice it is advisable to inspect your brake system, including lines, hoses, parking brake and brake fluid for proper level. We rely on our brakes and something as simple as a brake pad change can help put an end to any concerns about brake safety.

  5. Suspension & Wheel Alignment: Deep potholes aren't friendly to shocks and struts. An inspection to determine wear or leaks can alleviate bigger issues down the road. Also having your wheels properly aligned after a season of tough conditions can help keep you on the road in a safe direction.
  6. Fluid Levels: There are lots of things to check but don’t skip over any of them: engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze/coolant and, yes, even windshield washer fluid. Commonly a brake fluid flush can get your sluggish brakes working as good as new and because this is recommended once a year there is no better time to get it done.
  7. Engine Air filter: Changing out the engine air filter is a quick job that can be done during any oil, brake or transmission fluid change.
  8. Windshield Wipers: Check them for wear and cracks and replace them if necessary, think about doing this each spring and fall.
  9. Clean the interior: It’s easy to use your car or truck as a storage area for all kinds of things (including useless junk and garbage), especially in the cold months when you don’t feel like cleaning your car in the freezing cold. Take the time to de-clutter your car, losing the extra weight can significantly increase your gas mileage too. It’s worth it.
  10. Clean the exterior: Take special care to address the undercarriage where road salt can eat away or corrode the metal. A thorough cleaning at a car wash should do the trick.
