The media has done a great job of sharing starting statics like this one from distraction.gov "In 2013, 3,154 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers. This represents a 6.7 percent decrease in the number of fatalities recorded in 2012. Unfortunately, approximately 424,000 people were injured, which is an increase from the 421,000 people who were injured in 2012."
There are many activities that qualify as causing a distracted driving situation. Essentially distracted driving is any activity that moves your attention from driving and in turn endangers your passengers or those traveling around you.

- Try making your drive time, quiet time - We all need a little more Zen in our life. Try making your driving time a dedicated quiet time dedicated to driving and decompressing.
