New features for the 2016 Super Duty Truck include Dynamic Hitch Assist.  This is included within the rear view camera, providing added driver convenience when hitching a trailer.  It uses a dynamic centerline in the display to assist in guiding the truck backwards.  This helps the driver to better position the truck with a trailer coupler.  As steering adjustments are made the projected path is also shown on the screen.  Dynamic hitch assist reduces the need for a spotter or having to get in and out of the truck to check the position.

Gresham Ford knows that customers demand performance and the Ford Super Duty Work truck is a solid investment for any small  business and heavy duty recreational needs.  The 6.7L Powerstroke V8 turbo diesel engine with B20 biodiesel capability is Ford designed, Ford engineered and Ford built and tested to deliver the more impressive horsepower and torque with remarkably quiet efficiency.

Gresham Ford Showroom
Looking at used cars in Gresham Oregon can be a challenge.  Not only do you have to decide what kind of car to buy coupe, sedan, SUV, truck or compact - you have to find a good place to buy that car you want.

Gresham Ford is just one of the many used car dealers in Gresham not even to mention Portland or Vancouver.  And sometimes it really is worth it to drive for a great deal.

Throughout your travels you will likely hear the lures that many used car dealerships use like lifetime oil changes, lifetime tires or the like.  We definitely understand how enticing free tires can be but encourage you to read the fine print.  Many dealerships want all your automotive business and use tactics like this to trick you into using their service departments.  We want you to make our service center your choice because you like them and they treat you fairly.  We just aren't big on tricks here.  Maybe we were taunted by bullies too much when we were young?

Buying any car new or used is a big decision and we understand that.  For many people, included us, buying a car is the largest purchase we will make in this decade.  Most people don't work in the automotive industry and have lots of questions.  Let 'er rip.  We're ready.  Again we want you to have confidence in your choice and don't want to trick you into a car that won't work for you.

Gresham Ford beams about the F150 earning the TOP Safety Rating from the IIHS

IIHS Truck Crash Test Ratings
Gresham Ford is beaming with pride this week after the latest results from the IIHS crash test results were released.  The all new aluminum body Ford #F150 came out of the testing with the TOP Safety Award; while other trucks are likely to result in injuries during specific types of front-end accidents.

The Ford pickup received the highest distinction award in the IIHS annual Small-Overlap Front Crash Test Rating and was compared to the Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab among others.  These new crash tests of full size trucks are raising concerns about the safety of trucks like the Ram 1500 which received a marginal rating, the second worst of the four designations.
Small Overlap Front Crash Test Ratings for Large Pickups from IIHS

The military grade aluminum panels used in Ford trucks are much lighter than the steel used on other pickups.  The IIHS Crash Test Rating Test now shows that the aluminum is better for safety than steel, opposed to ad campaigns to the contrary.

Gresham Ford is excited to offer trucks made by an American Manufacturer that is leading among truck makers in safety, technology, comfort and efficiency.

The worst performing trucks in the small overlap test are the Ram 1500 Crew Cab and the Ram 1500 Quad Cab.  Both eared a marginal rating overall and a poor rating for structure.  The footrest/left toepan, brake pedal, parking brake and lower dashboard were shoved against the dummy's lower legs 16-17 inches with the Dodge Rams.  All of the trucks with the exception of the Ford #F150 indicated the likelihood of serious lower leg, ankle and foot injuries.

In celebration, Ford Motor Credit and Gresham Ford have partnered to offer an exciting $229/mo/ 24 month Red Carpet Lease on New 2016 Ford F150 Crew Cab 4WD XLT trucks.  Take delivery of your F150 from Gresham Ford before July 5th with $4,859 down and due at signing.  For complete qualifications and details contact the Gresham Ford Sales Team.

Safest Truck on the Road in Gresham Oregon

Only one pickup truck tested has received a top safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway
Safety: Ford's F-150 .  That rating was issued after the small overlap crash test, which approximates one corner of a vehicle clipping a tree or utility pole. This was the first time most pickups had been subjected to this difficult test. The results of the test indicated that the F-150 SuperCab not only did well in the small overlap test but also in the other tests -- moderate overlap front-end crash, side collision and rollover accidents. That combination earned it the Top Safety Pick. For the first time in 2016, the F-150 offers a system aimed at preventing front-end crashes. The F-150 SuperCab is alone in getting a Good rating for occupant protection.
2017 Ford F150 is the Safest Truck on the Road

And in addition to the safety, how about some of these features – did you ever think you would see them on a truck?  Remote tailgate release and lower with your key fob!  Or how about voice activated technology so you can keep your eyes on the road.  Make a call, search for your favorite music, Bluetooth audio to stream your favorite content or navigate to your favorite restaurant all with a simple push of a button and the sound of your voice.

Focus RS the All Wheel Drive Performance Hatchback is coming

All Wheel Drive Ford Focus RS Available at Gresham Ford
The all-new 2016 Focus RS is the pinnacle of performance hatchbacks from Ford.  By delivering refined power, advanced all-wheel-drive (AWD) technology and uncompromised driving dynamics Ford has truly brought the Focus to a whole new level of fun and Gresham Ford is bringing it directly to you.

The 2016 Focus RS takes the Ford global performance car strategy to the next level by combining the Ford SVT (North America), Team RS (Europe) and Ford Racing Team to create Ford Performance.  This all new All Wheel Driver version of the Focus features a twin-scroll 2.3L EcoBoost engine that delivers 350 horsepower(1) and 350 lb.‑ft. of torque(1).

The exterior is dramatic and fit for purpose, balancing high-performance design with functional attributes that focus on aerodynamics and the cooling demands of the powertrain and brakes.  With more speed, more performance and a unique look, the #FocusRS will be the fastest production Focus currently available in the world.  And we all know fast translates to fun.

We recently saw an example of the 2017 Ford Focus RS at the #PortlandAutoShow.  The enthusiast inspired all new Focus RS offers agile handling, cornering speed and high-octane performance thanks to its high-output 2.3L EcoBoost engine with its best in class 350 hp and 350lb ft of torque and the new Ford Performance All Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring. The Focus RS is equipped with driver selectable Driver Modes including a Drift Mode that allows controlled oversteer drifts and Launch Control.  And to top it off you can fo from 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds.

Ford Performance All-wheel drive (AWD) with Dynamic Torque Vectoring

Ford Focus RS pre-production car at the Portland Auto Show
This new technology from Ford combines outstanding traction and grip with unmatched agility and cornering speed.  Driving enthusiasts will appreciate the Focus RS that has been tuned to deliver exceptional grip — with lateral acceleration exceeding 1 g — as well as cornering speed and acceleration out of a bend.  We think you will find that this car delivers the ultimate fun-to-drive experience with neutral and adjustable limit handling as well as the ability to achieve controlled oversteer drifts on the track.  During cornering the rear drive unit (RDU) pre-emptively diverts torque immediately to the outer rear wheel based on inputs such as steering wheel angle, lateral acceleration, yaw and speed.  The safety system monitors multiple vehicle sensors 100 times per second sensing the previously mentioned input data to keep you on the road.  The twin electronically controlled clutch packs on each side of the RDU manage the front/rear torque split as well as the side-to-side torque distribution on the rear axle.  While the independent RDU control unit continuously varies the front/rear and side-to-side torque distribution to suit current driving conditions.  A maximum of 70% of the drive torque can be diverted to the rear axle and up to 100% of the available torque (the 70%) at the rear axle can be sent to each rear wheel.
Ford Focus RS Interior View

The all-new 2016 Focus RS makes its own performance-themed mark on comfort and convenience.  The RECARO® sport seats are designed with the performance driver in mind and look sharp too.  Ford Performance worked in cooperation with RECARORECARO® to produce the sport bucket front seats.   Thick side bolstering provides lateral support to keep the driver firmly placed in the seat during aggressive cornering maneuvers.  Standard equipment on the front driver  seat includes 6‑way manual controls.  The front-passenger seat comes standard with 4‑way manual controls.
Focus RS Driver's Interior View
There is even a RS2 Package for the Focus RS that includes:
  • Charcoal Black full leather-trimmed RECARO® sport seats with Miko® Dinamica micro sueded cloth inserts and RS logo
  • Driver 8‑way power seat
  • Heated exterior mirrors
  • Heated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Voice-activated Navigation System with SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link Services
The key technology behind the performance capability and efficiency of the the Ford Focus RS is the 2.3L EcoBoost engine.  Fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder by solenoid-controlled high-pressure injectors and compared to traditional fuel delivery where fuel is mixed with intake air prior to entering the chamber it greatly adds to the power produced.

Fuel is pumped from the tank at a normal pressure of around 200 psi to the engine compartment.  A camshaft-driven high-pressure fuel pump increases fuel pressures of up to 2150 psi, depending on the demands of the engine.  Direct-injection fuel injectors are located inside the combustion chamber.  Each injector delivers a precise fuel spray into each cylinder, allowing a higher compression ratio to help improve engine performance and reduce fuel consumption.  An electronic control system varies the timing and intensity of the fuel delivery according to the engine’s operating conditions and demand from the driver.  This technology is what makes the Focus RS so responsive and powerfully fun to drive.

What's Under the Hood of the Ford Focus RS?
Under the hood of the Ford Focus RS
The Focus RS carries an engine that provides 350 horsepower @ 6000 rpm(1)  and produces 350 lb.‑ft. of torque @ 3200 rpm(1).  Delivering a broad, flat torque curve with maximum torque through the powerband for sustained acceleration is amazing and we recommend that everyone tries it at least once.  The Focus RS has a compression ratio of 9.5:1.  The Twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti‑VCT) also help to make this the most responsive fun car you have ever driven.  The Dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) is made from lightweight aluminum cylinder heads with 4 valves per cylinder.  The large twin-scroll low-inertia turbocharger separates the exhaust pulses for pairs of cylinders while enabling quicker turbine spin-up and providing enhanced acceleration responsiveness and efficiency.  The large turbocharger and compressor deliver optimum airflow.  Ford also designed a large intercooler that truly maximizes charge density.  With over 20 psi of boost available you will feel the Eco-Boost difference of the Ford Performance Team.

For more information about the Focus RS or to order one just the way you want it for no extra charge, contact Gresham Ford at 503-665-0101 or stop by the dealership located at 1999 East Powell Blvd in Gresham.

The 2017 Ford Raptor is Revealed

2017 Ford Raptor for sale at Gresham Ford

Gresham Ford is super excited that the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor has finally been revealed and we want to share the Key F-150 Raptor Features so you can be just as excited as we are.
Choice and versatility — the all-new F-150 Raptor adds room for passengers and gear with the addition of a SuperCrew configuration along with the previously announced SuperCab.  Both options are available for order from Gresham Ford.
Toughest — the combination of all-new purpose-built high-strength steel frame with a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body helps save more than 500 lbs. of weight. The use of advanced materials is expected to improve the power-to-weight ratio for improved off-road agility.
Smartest — an all-new high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine has more horsepower and torque than the current Raptor’s 411-horsepower, 434 lb.-ft.  6.2-liter V8.  That's right even more power in now available in the all new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor.
Most capable — redesigned, larger FOX Racing Shox with more suspension travel, BF Goodrich® 35-inch all-terrain T/A KO2 tires and all-new Terrain Management System help Raptor handle the toughest terrain even in Oregon.
Exterior — inspired by the Ford Performance heritage in off-road racing. The new Raptor exterior has chiseled looks that are reminiscent of those found in Trophy Trucks — the most powerful and fastest off-road trucks.  It just looks super cool.
Interior — includes three color material levels; steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters; and auxiliary switches that are mounted out of the driver’s way in the roof of the cab — similar to a fighter plane — to control aftermarket equipment such as accessory lights.  Because everyone wants to drive a fighter plane.  Admit it, you do want that.
All-new four-wheel-drive, torque-on-demand transfer case — manages power distribution between the front and rear wheels; combines the best attributes of clutch-driven, on-demand all-wheel drive with durable, mechanical-locking four-wheel drive.  This is one example where technology makes your experience night and day better than before.  There will be no regressing from this technology.
Terrain Management System — enables the driver to select six preset modes to optimize driving dynamics to environmental conditions like sand, snow, mud, etc.

Raptor is the Toughest Ford Truck for Ultimate Off-Road Performance
The combination of an all-new purpose-built high-strength steel frame with a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body helps save more than 500 lbs. of weight. The use of advanced materials is expected to improve the power-to-weight ratio by at least 25% for improved off-road agility.  You didn't think it was possible but this Raptor is even better with heightened technology improved on previous models.  The purpose-built frame in Raptor is the strongest in the F-150 lineup and features more high-strength steel than the outgoing Raptor
Raptor is six inches wider than the standard F-150 to help stability when driving off road
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is Smartest Ford Truck for Ultimate Off-Road Performance
An all-new high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine has more horsepower and torque than the current Raptor’s 411-horsepower, 434 lb.-ft.  6.2-liter V8.  Today's first-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine proved its mettle by racing in the original F-150 EcoBoost Torture Test in the 2010 Baja 1000, as well as in repeated wins in other off-road race series Raptor includes an all-new 10-speed transmission.  The new Raptor torque-on-demand transfer case offers improved power transfer for better traction over a greater variety of terrain at both low and high speeds on-road and off-road.

The Terrain Management System features the following modes to optimize driving dynamics to road conditions:
Normal Mode: everyday driving
Street Mode: higher performance, on-road driving
Weather Mode: for rain, snow or ice
Mud and Sand Mode: muddy and sandy terrain
Baja Mode: high-speed desert running
Rock Mode: low-speed rock crawling
Raptor includes many calibration changes to its powertrain, driveline, traction control, ABS and AdvanceTrac stability control system for optimal performance.  Advanced LED lighting and the available 360 degree camera technology contribute to improved visibility when driving on trails or on streets, day or night.
The Most Capable Ford Truck for Ultimate Off-Road Performance
An available TORSEN® front differential increases off-road capability. This system increases grip significantly for the front end of the truck and allows it to pull itself over obstacles and up steep grades, even when traction is split between the front tires
The new standard FOX Racing Shox with custom internal bypass technology works to dampen and stiffen suspension travel over rough terrain to help prevent the truck from bottoming out.  Redesigned, larger FOX Racing Shox have increased from 2.5 inches to 3 inches in diameter to help improve performance. They feature more suspension travel than the current Raptor’s 11.2 inches at the front and 12 inches at the rear
BF Goodrich® 35-inch all-terrain T/A KO2 tires and all-new Terrain Management System help Raptor handle the toughest terrain.  Redesigned class-exclusive(1) beadlock-capable wheels allow for lower tire pressures, helping maximize traction when off-road.
Styling
F-150 Raptor will be available in a 133-inch SuperCab or 145-inch SuperCrew configuration
Raptor’s exterior design is inspired by the Ford Performance heritage in off-road racing that includes Best in the Desert, Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and the Baja 1000.  Along with its new appearance, Raptor still has specific exterior styling your customers have come to expect including: wheel moldings, functional heat extractors on the power dome hood and fenders, blacked-out headlamp appearance, distinctive grille with curved Ford logo crossbar and integrated marker lamps, redesigned rear bumper highlights the true dual exhaust.  Again it just looks super cool.

The Quick Lane at Gresham Ford provides a Lifetime Brake Pad Guarantee

The days of simple, hydraulic based braking systems are over. Today’s complex brake systems require knowledge and expertise not only in hydraulics, but in electronics and computer controls as well. Service technicians must be skilled in these areas in order to diagnose and service today’s brake systems, and to be prepared for servicing the brake systems of tomorrow. Another important consideration are the brake pads and brake fluid used in the brake replacement. Most experienced automotive technicians follow a standard procedure, sometimes without even being aware of it, because their years of experience have taught them that by following a standard procedure they are less likely to miss a small, easy to fix item that may be responsible for a malfunction. Few things are more aggravating than replacing an expensive, hard to service component, only to find out that it did not correct the concern. Then, upon further investigation, finding out the real cause was a broken wire that would have been seen had a thorough visual inspection been performed. Focusing on the utilization of systematic diagnostic procedures for identifying and correcting ABS concerns sets the Quick Lane at Gresham Ford apart from other local auto repair facilities because it's fixed right the first time.

Crash Test Ratings of the 2016 Ford Escape

2016 Ford Escape for Sale at Gresham Ford
The Ford Escape is a very safe family SUV that features adaptable airbag deployment that uses various sensors throughout the vehicle to measure a variety of inputs, including the size of the passengers and how fast the vehicle is traveling to determine how the airbags will deploy.  So the airbag will go off with much less force if your 98lb grandma is in the front seat as opposed to 300lb Uncle Carl.  The Safety Canopy System pioneered by Ford engineers combines with side curtain airbags and a rollover sensor to help provide protection for outboard passengers during a side impact collision.  The 2016 Ford Escape is the most robust unibody construction of all the Ford Escapes for sale.  Nearly one third of the steel used in the body of the new Escape is composed of advanced high strength steel that adds safety while cutting weight and improving efficiency.

Crash Test Ratings for the 2016 Ford Escape

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) provides consumers with crash test ratings to help consumers make more educated decisions and vehicle purchases.  Frontal and side crash test ratings are located in the Government Safety Ratings portion of all 2016 vehicle window stickers.

Crash Test Ratings Listed on the Window Sticker

If you are like many consumers, you are probably asking, "How does NHTSA determine crash test ratings?"  In all scenarios, the tests are designed to reproduce the most common real life accidents.  Instruments measure the force of the impact and how it transfers to the vehicle's passengers and then compares similar vehicles' test results.

The frontal crash test simulates a head on collision between two similar vehicles, each moving at 35 mph.  The test includes dummies to represent an average size male in the driver's seat and a small female in the front passenger seat.

The side crash test rating represents an intersection type collision by having a 3,015 pound barrier that replicates the characteristics of the front end of a vehicle, moving at 38.5 mph into a standing vehicle.  The test includes dummies to represent an average size male in the drivers seat and a small female in the driver's side second row seating position.  A pole test was designed to simulate the broadside impact of a vehicle into a tree or telephone pole at 20 mph.  The test includes a dummy to represent a small female in the driver's seat.

Rollover ratings are determined by mathematical formulas that consider the vehicle's geometric properties and the number of crash avoidance technologies are used to determine the likelihood of a rollover in certain conditions.  More information about the NHTSA and their ratings can be found at www.safercar.gov.

Crash Test Ratings for the 2016 Ford Escape

Used 2013 Ford Fiesta for Sale in Gresham, Oregon at Gresham Ford

This 2013 Ford Fiesta offers 4 doors in the sedan SE trim package.  The expressive vibrant design refined the expectations of small car customers.  Delivering convenience and connectivity not found in other small cars with good MPG is what Fiesta is known for in Gresham, Oregon.  The Ford Fiesta was the first minicar to earn the IIHS Safety Pick aware since the IIHS added a roof strength requirement rating.

The 1.6L Ti-VCT I-4 Engine produces 120 horsepower and 112 lb-ft. of torque.  The engine block is high-pressure die-case aluminum for strength and light weight properties.  While the aluminum cylinder head and engine block help reduce vehicle weight to help improve fuel efficiency.  With a 11.0:1 compression ratio, you'll be impressed with the "zippy" quality this compact commuter car has to offer.

What's more important in a commuter car than MPG? Nothing, that's what.  This 2013 Ford Fiesta comes standard with a Aggressive Deceleration Fuel Shutoff (ADFSO) technology that helps to maximize fuel efficiency by temporarily interrupting fuel delivery and consumption when the vehicle normally slows down while maintaining normal engine operation.  The system is automatic and requires no interaction from the driver.  That's right it's automatically making your MPG as good as possible.

The Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) allows the camshafts to operate both intake and exhaust valves at different times in the combustion cycle, based on engine speed and load.  These adjustments to the camshaft timing provide enhanced performance and fuel economy.  It's like the engineers at Ford know how badly you hate paying for gas and made the Ford Fiesta with excellent efficiency just for you!  You don't have to compromise power or MPG either.  The Ti-VCT also provides exceptional power when accelerating so you can pass with no anxiety.
