Craftsmanship and dedication to smart technologies has driven Ford to create a truly great car. For the 2017 model year there are five models available:
- Fusion S with a 6 speed select shift automatic transmission with rotary gear shift dial
- Fusion SE with available enhanced active park assist system
- Fusion Titanium with available intelligent access with push button start and remote start
- Fusion Platinum with available all-wheel drive and inflatable rear safety belts.
- Fusion Sport offers a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 all-wheel drive features with continuously controlled damping suspension for the smoothest ride.
There is a 3 engine lineup with the 1.5L EcoBoost, 2.0L EcoBoost and the 2.5L i-VCT that delivers both power and performance.
The 1.5L Eco Boost inline four cylinder engine provides 181 horsepower and 185 lb ft of torque and delivers a broad flat torque curve with the power that you want when driving on Oregon highways. The aluminum engine block and cylinder head help to reduce weight and aid fuel efficiency. Ford has also engineered a water cooled charged air cooler that provides an even better feed of air into the engine in order to provide more power with less fuel. The cast-iron crankshaft and balance shaft is belt driven and primary to the drive system. This system includes a camshaft drive system that contributes to the reduced noise and vibration that you will definitely enjoy. The lightweight composite intake manifold helps to reduce vehicle weight and improve efficiency. Dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) is also made of lightweight aluminum cylinder heads with 4 valves per cylinder that helps to further improve the engine breathing and performance.
The 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 engine provides 245 horsepower at 5500 RPM and 275 lb. ft of torque at 3000 RPM again delivering the broad flat torque curve that provides the powerful smooth drive that Fusion has become known for. The fast acting gooseneck turbo connects directly to the exhaust manifold and funnels the exhaust energy at the turbine for quicker response. The EcoBoost technology withstands higher temperatures for increased durability and reliability, thanks to the cast stainless steel turbine housing. Ford has also engineered a oil lubrication system and water cooling in order to assist extending the long life of your Ford Fusion.
The 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine produces 325 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 380 lb.ft of torque at 3000 rpm. The Ford engine logic system adjusts operating parameters on the fly to provide enhanced efficiency and performance. We think you will find the electronic throttle control (ETC) helps deliver seamless and consistent response from your Fusion engine. The parallel twin turbochargers are water-cooled to prevent "coking" and operate at a maximum of 147 psi of boost. The lightweight and compact design helps to deliver an impressive combination of power and efficiency. The compacted graphite iron cylinder block helps save weight while providing strength where it's needed most for durability.
For even better MPG check out the Fusion Energi that is a plug in AND gas car.
Ford has worked hard to engineer a car that is truly fuel efficient and fun to drive. One of the technologies that help to drive the efficiency of the Ford Fusion is the Aggressive Deceleration Fuel ShutOff system, that deactivates the fuel injectors when the Fusion is decelerating or coasting while normal engine operation is maintained. All this technology is to help you get the best MPG possible. This technology is automatic, you don't have to do a thing but drive how you would normally and understand that your car will get very quite at stop lights. Normal fuel delivery resumes as soon as you reach a low speed or when you accelerate. You will find that the Ford Fusion maintains excellent drivability by the software that continues to integrates this technology with the powertrain operation.
