What's at the 2017 Portland Auto Show

The reviews are in and the Portland Auto Show is worth the price of admission.  Ford has brought some of the best selling cars in America and even the new Ford Eco Sport.

2017 Ford Escape at the Portland Auto Show
You can visit the Portland Auto Show at the Oregon Convention Center January 26th to Sunday January 29th.  10am to 10pm Thursday to Saturday and 10am to 7pm on Sunday.  Admission is $12 for adults, and $7 for kids 7 to 12 years old.  Kids under 6 are free.

2017 Ford Escape exterior view at the Portland Auto ShowThe Ford Escape that is being presented this year has the unique black exterior details including the wheels, roof rack, grille insert and side mirrors.  This is a preferable alternative to those who chrome details don't stir the soul.  You can pile the whole family into the Escape to make sure it fits and get a chance to ask questions with many Ford Product Specialists on hand - even a few from Gresham Ford

2017 Ford Edge at the Portland Auto Show

Another SUV shown off this year is the 2017 Ford Edge that showcased an amazing bold design that really grabs your attention.  You have a compelling choice of three engines to meet every Portlanders needs.  One you climb behind the wheel at the Convention Center you will find yourself surrounded with technology that make driving a pleasurable experience again.  The voice activated next generation Sync Hands Free technology allows you to access navigation, change the radio station and use the phone all hands free.  We wouldn't want anyone getting a ticket now.
2017 Ford Transit Full Size Work Van

The Ford Transit is the work van that Dodge Sprinter owners have been waiting for.  This is the same van that dominates markets overseas and in Europe because of it's undeniable reliability.  This work van is just as big and tall as the Sprinter but without all the problems.  The Gresham Ford Fleet department has switched many business owners over to the new full size Ford Transit and they are very happy with the reduced cost of operation and maintenance required. With three different roof heights and two different wheel bases not to mention many different window and door configurations - this is the work van you have been wanting.

Even I was a little surprised about the amount of traffic that wanted to see this van up close and personal.  Ford brought the passenger van to the Auto Show this year and as you can see this 6'3" man (I asked) has lots of room to walk around inside and there's still room for luggage.

Our Fleet Managers have had a number of hotels and taxi companies purchase these vehicles because of their superior room and again reduced overall vehicle expense.  Did we already mention the Transit is less expensive than the Dodge Sprinter?

But if work vans are what gets your blood rushing Ford also brought out the much anticipated 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 with the 5.2L V8 engine that provides 526 horsepower and 429 pound feet of torque.  That's more than enough power for anyone to get into trouble.  Ford Performance even added more standard features like Track Package; it's standard now.

There is also a drive simulator, just like last year but the lines appear to be shorter.  Like we said there is a lot to keep your attention this year.

So if you aren't planning on visiting the Portland Auto Show you may still be interested in what the new 2018 Ford Ecosport looks like.  It's smaller than the Escape but appears to have the same height clearance.

It's proportioned a little differently than the C-Max and a bit larger in our opinion.  It is very similar with its rounded corners and larger bold grille.

2018 Ford EcoSport Passenger Side View

Ford hasn't released pricing yet but we are eager to get more information.  This is a very appealing compact SUV that would compete well with the Kia Soul and the like.

2018 Ford EcoSport Drivers Side View

Maybe I'm just reading too much into the styling but it looks like a zippy little SUV.  The Escape is an incredibly versatile vehicle and the Eco-Sport appears that it will have the same 60 40 split 2nd row bench seat allowing many configurations to accommodate bikes, dogs and strollers.

Many parents really like the EscapeFlex and Explorer because it is a lateral movement to get your kids into their car seats. Back pain and discomfort are never fun but when you have little wiggly ones and groceries it's even worse.  We think the Ford EcoSport will be a popular affordable SUV option for those Oregonians who want AWD at an affordable price.
